Playfest Award

The Wilson's Tales Project have commissioned a number of Tales to be presented in various media forms.

As part of this we have been delighted to sponsor an award, currently for £300 for a playwright nominated by Duns Play Fest to present a Tale drawn from the original ‘Tales of the Borders’ as a play.

This will then be premiered at Duns Play Fest, held in early May. Part of the projects remit is to encourage new presentation of the Tales by artists and writers of all sorts to modern audiences.

 

The Playfest Award has been running since 2021 and previous winners have been:

The Apparition of Flodden – by Jane Houston Green

The Monk of St Anthony – by Robert Sproul-Cran

The White Knight – by Eloner Crawford

'DunsPlayfest'

'DunsPlayfest' was founded in 2019 and has become the leading drama event in the Borders calendar and a showcase for new and emerging talent as well as a platform for local drama enthusiasts to practice their skills and audiences to enjoy the wide range of drama , music and other shows being presented. It now spreads over 9 days and presents over 100 separate events.

For 2026 we commissioned John Nichol who presented two tales; “The Hen Pecked Man” & "The False Alarm!”, merged into one under the name of "The Wars Of Patie Crighton".
