Ticket for Beans and Bacon Dinner, October 2nd, 2026

A ticket for The Beans and Bacon Dinner, October 2nd, 2026 @£42.50

Join us at Ad Gefrin for the annual “Beans & Bacon” Dinner on Friday 2nd October, 2026.

Every year, we gather to celebrate Wilson’s Tales of the Borders. Together we enjoy a meal and a modern interpretation of one of his “historical, traditionary and imaginative” stories.

The name “Beans & Bacon” comes from a semi-autobiographical poem by J.M. Wilson, author of many of the tales. These are short stories, set in North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Editor of the Berwick Advertiser, Wilson was a prolific writer and in their day, his stories were bestsellers.

This year, we’ll be at Wooler’s astonishing Ad Gefrin, a modern building, whose architecture is strongly influenced by the Anglo-Saxon palaces that archaeologists have found nearby. It is very close to the centre of Wooler. It has parking and good access for people with mobility issues. https://adgefrin.co.uk

Ad Gefrin’s award-winning kitchen has devised the menu specially for our event.
Starter: white cocoa bean velouté, chorizo, tomato concasse with herbed crouton.
Main course: seared salmon, confit Savoy cabbage with smoked bacon and red wine sauce.
Pudding: Tácnbora whisky and vanilla creme brûlée.

If you have any other dietary requirements ( e.g. vegetarian) or allergies please get in touch with us before booking either by emailing us here or by writing to us – see our full contact details here.

The event will run from approximately 7.00pm till 9.30pm. This year’s tale will be an interpretation of ‘The Faa’s Revenge” by Mike Lyons.

When you buy a ticket, you don’t need to download anything: we will have a record of your purchase and your name will be added to the guest list.
